Why Juice Cleanse

What is a juice cleanse? This is simply when you help to cleanse the body of toxins by drinking only freshly made fruit and vegetable juices.

The overall health benefits are endless, but in general, fruit and vegetables are a valuable source of fiber, chlorophyll, and essential vitamins such as K & C and minerals such as iron, calcium and magnesium. Green vegetables also help to alkaline the body, meaning your blood is less acidic and will keep your body in a healthier state.

Periods of cleansing the body will serve a great many health benefits, such as:

  • They give organs like the stomach and intestines time to rest and clear built up waste by giving it a break from the digestion of foods
  • They take blood that would usually be used by your digestive system to other parts of the body, where it can help heal areas that need to heal
  • Help to boost your immune system
  • Help with weight loss, as, during periods of fasting, your body goes from using your food as fuel to using fat stores from within your body, helping you to lose weight and releasing trapped toxins
  • Increase your energy, mood and mental focus
  • Improve overall health, wellness and skin complexion
  • Drinking juices during a fast/cleanse ensures that while all this is going on, you’re still getting lots of vitamins and nutrients

We recommend that are juices should be drunk within 24 hours and should be kept in a fridge in an airtight container. We can therefore provide you with your juices on a daily basis if you can collect them from the shop. We can also provide you with your juices frozen if necessary, and then they have to be consumed within 7 days after being frozen.


Blue Orange Juice Cleanse Programs

 We offer a wide variety of delicious and nutritious juices, smoothies and shots made of raw fresh fruits, vegetables and super foods.

Additionally, we offer 3 types of Cleansing Programs if you’d like to give your body a rest and reboot:

1 – The Blue Orange Juice Cleanse – £20 per day

  • We supply you with 1 smoothie and 4 juices a day for 1 or more days
  • Instead of worrying about which diet to try and stressing over which food or drink to cut out, try infusing your week with liquid nutrition and see what happens
  • You might just be surprised at how you naturally start to crave more natural whole foods, and how much easier it is to cut out the rubbish
  • Suitable for most people, not advisable for pregnant ladies, or children

2 – The Winter Cleanse – £20 per day

  • 1 healthy shot, 1 vegetable soup and 4 delicious juices a day
  • Create some space for the body to breathe and have a rest by having a whole day or more of raw liquid nutrition, with a dose for yummy warming, healthy and delicious soup
  • A chance to reset healthy eating habits
  • Suitable for most people, not advisable for pregnant ladies, or children

3 – The Blue Orange/Barbara Cox Juice Cleanse – £95 for 3 days 

  • Blue Orange juice Bar and Barbara Cox have teamed up to create this amazing juice cleanse to help reset the body, as part of a controlled weight loss program
  • Choose from 3 days or more:8am – Zeolite & Activated charcoal, for cleansing and energy. You can either mix with water, apple juice or our favourite way is to add 60ml of coconut water, grate a little fresh ginger and squeeze in ½ lime.  (Zeolite, Chlorella, chia seed, chlorophyllin, activated charcoal, ginger root powder, spirulina)

    9am, 11am and 1pm you will have 3 delicious Blue Orange juices

    4pm – Pure Nourish Vegan Protein Shake (add 225 ml of non-dairy milk and blend until smooth. You can add a handful of berries if desired)

It’s really important that you commit to drinking only your Blue Orange juices, water and caffeine free herbal teas for the duration of your cleanse.

A great way to kick start your day is with a slice of lemon added to a mug of hot water to help accelerate the cleanse process.

Try to drink plenty of water per day, on top of your juices. (Just a warning, you will need the loo more often than usual, but that’s a good thing as it means that you are flushing away toxins every time).

Don’t worry if you find yourself with a headache, it is perfectly normal. Try not to take any tablets to combat the pain; headaches, aches and pains are all part of the cleanse process and will pass. Get yourself some water and have a rest and the feeling will pass.

A process is going to take place inside your body. For the first few days your brain will ask your stomach for food. When it realises that tactic isn’t working (usually around day 4) it will begin to try something new.

You will probably find that you feel less hungry than you expected to. This is due to the fact that your body is still getting all the nutrients it needs. Don’t focus on hunger. You may miss food and the process of cooking and eating, so plan plenty of distractions and activities: go for a walk, take up a new hobby, see a friend, go to the cinema. If you do feel hungry, know that the feeling will pass.

If you are feeling hungry, why not blend one of your smoothies with a banana or an avocado.

And if you feel that you really have to eat some food, it’s not the end of the world if you have a healthy snack, such as a piece of raw fruit, or veg, or a piece of cooked fish.

Here’s an example of a Blue Orange Juice cleanse:

  • 1 x Green Giant (apple juice, spinach, kale, banana, pineapple, chia seeds, spirulina)
  • 1 x Green Doctor (celery, cucumber, ginger, lemon, lime, mint, pineapple, spinach)
  • 1 x Mineral Booster (basil, courgette, cucumber, pineapple, spinach)
  • 1 x Workout Buddy (apple, carrot, cucumber, spinach, spirulina)
  • 1 x Blue Orange (beetroot, carrot, ginger, lemon, orange) OR
  • 1 x Ginger Ninja (apple, carrot, ginger, orange)

    Here’s an example of some of a Blue Orange Winter Juice cleanse:

  • 1 x GLC (ginger, lemon and cayenne pepper)
  • 1 x Green Doctor (celery, cucumber, ginger, lemon, lime, mint, pineapple, spinach)
  • 1 x Mineral Booster (basil, courgette, cucumber, pineapple, spinach)
  • 1 x Vegetable soup
  • 1 x Blue Orange (beetroot, carrot, ginger, lemon, orange) OR
  • 1 x Ginger Ninja (apple, carrot, ginger, orange)

Smoothies

In addition to juices Blue Orange also make our freshly made to order smoothies, which are packed with locally sourced fresh fruit and vegetables, along with various other add-ons and super foods such as chia seeds, flax seeds, whey protein, spirulina, goji berries and coconut water.

Many of our smoothies contain yoghurt and therefore can feel more filling than a juice, whilst also containing the additional health benefits that yoghurt provides as a result of the presence of live bacteria. Please see our nutritional page for the full list of benefits contained in yoghurt.

We can also replace the yoghurt with soya yoghurt and coconut, almond or soya milk. Please let us know if you have specific dietary requirement and will do our best to accommodate.

Kids and smoothies:

Kids love smoothies, and getting healthy food in to them is often a battle. Most kids love the taste of a creamy smoothie, naturally sweetened by fruit or natural sweeteners such as honey. You can even hide veggies in their smoothies and give them that extra kick of nutrition and they won’t even know!
